Cavaliers Fall Short in Game 7 Heartbreaker

Celtics' Defensive Prowess Proves Too Much for Cavs

Despite Mitchell's heroics, Cleveland bows out of the playoffs

The Cleveland Cavaliers' valiant run in the NBA Playoffs came to an end on Sunday night after a heartbreaking 105-99 loss to the Boston Celtics in Game 7. Despite a stellar performance from Donovan Mitchell, who finished with 31 points, the Cavaliers were unable to overcome the Celtics' suffocating defense.

The Celtics, known for their relentless defensive pressure, swarmed Mitchell and the rest of the Cavaliers' offense throughout the game. Boston held Cleveland to just 39.8% shooting from the field, including a dismal 25.6% from three-point range. The Celtics also forced 14 turnovers, which they converted into 18 points.

Mitchell, who had single-handedly led the Cavaliers to victory in Game 6, struggled to find his rhythm against the Celtics' suffocating defense. He finished the game 11-of-31 from the field and 1-of-9 from beyond the arc. Without Mitchell's usual scoring output, the Cavaliers offense was unable to keep pace with the Celtics.

The Celtics, on the other hand, were led by a balanced scoring attack. Jayson Tatum finished with 22 points, while Al Horford added 20 and Marcus Smart chipped in with 18. Boston also dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Cavaliers by a margin of 53-36.

As the final buzzer sounded, the Cavaliers' season came to an abrupt end. Despite their impressive playoff run, they were unable to overcome the Celtics' superior defensive prowess. The Celtics will now advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, where they will face the Milwaukee Bucks.
